๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ‘งโ€๐Ÿ‘ฆ ๐ŸŽฎ๐ŸŽฒ Do board games and logic puzzles help kids to learn maths?

Yes, they sure do, but there is a snag.

Some games and puzzles don’t help as much as most people believe.

And here is why.

Intellectual games and logic puzzles can be great at helping your childโ€™s cognitive brain development: they improve imagination, intelligence, memory, reasoning, decision-making โ€“ you name it!

But when it comes to maths learning, not all games and puzzles are really helpful!

Why?

Because strong logic, reasoning and memory and so on will not necessarily develop the correct maths understanding as well.

Only fixing maths brain-twisters does!

And far from all games and puzzles directly help to fix them.

In other words, if we adults wish to play an intellectual game or solve a logic puzzle with a kid โ€“ go ahead and enjoy your family time!

But if you think playing a game or solving a puzzle will help your childโ€™s maths at school, itโ€™s true only if you follow the following guidelines:

1๏ธโƒฃ Use a game or a puzzle that helps fix a particular maths brain-twister.
2๏ธโƒฃ Tell your child that the game or puzzle is for learning as well as for fun.
3๏ธโƒฃ Help your child to see what maths point the game or puzzle is addressing.
4๏ธโƒฃ Explain the maths point to your child so they understand it, otherwise the game or puzzle wonโ€™t feel as fun for them!
5๏ธโƒฃ And yes. While working on your childโ€™s maths thinking, donโ€™t forget to have fun playing the game and solving the puzzle!

๐ŸŸช Over the years, I collated many puzzles and games that can help a child to fix particular brain-twisters so their understanding of a particular maths topic is improved. Many of themย  are specifically based on up-to-date educational psychology.

Some of these games and puzzles are more fun than others, but they all do their job!

And yes.
Kids enjoy them โ˜บ๏ธ
